This could be another case of a French clone, which displays a problem in California in normal years, that changes its character when the environmental factors mimic those of France. This may be a good clone for the central and south of France. If you have been in the Orange area south of Lyon you know it is dry.
My sense of this clone has changed over the years. This is a good clone for the dry AVAs, by example my Santa Barbara. We have had 10 and 7 inches of rain in 2008 and 2009. This is a perfect clone when rainfall is low.

This is a big berry clone, makes great wine in great seasons, makes marginal wines in lesser seasons such as 2006.
