These barrels made wonderful sweet tasting wines in the Howell Mountain AVA between 2004 and 2008. Wine made with these barrels have scored with Robert Parker. They are more pungent than Nadalie which are comparable.

I was just tasting Pinot Noirs in the Central Coast region, San Luis Obispo, and a wine aged in this barrel for a year was very good. The aroma attributes were similar to Remond, while the taste attribute was not unlike DJs, Meryieux in the sense that it was tarry and thick. Highly recommended for San Luis Obispo region.

I dislike these barrels, which I sense are simply the worst for adding elegant attributes to St. Helena Bordeaux based wines such as Trilogy. They are strong, planky, and I sense a pine attribute in the taste, almost like American oak.
