Tanin Galalcool (Hydrol. Tannin)
Description: Tanin Galalcool is derived from the fall nut of oak trees. It was specifically developed for additoin to white wines because it is colerless. Tanin Galacool inhibits laccase activity of Botrytis grapes. It prevents oxidation. It can remove protein from white wines. Recommended dosage 10-30g/hL (0.25 to 1.0 g/gallon). IS THIS A GREAT FINING AGENT FOR FINE FARM WINES? Distributed by Scott Laboratories.
For the veiwers information Scott Laboratories purer form of this tannin is sold as TANIN GALALCOOL SP. The rate of use of the tannin is 50 to 300 for red wines. We have heard of winemakers using 100 ppm when they deem it is needed to improve tannin concentrations.

I have found that some tannins are too ordorous to use for winemaking.

This has proved to be a good tannin, but one which one winemaker in 10 reports adds an odor to wines, which is not my experience. However I will note that Scott Laboratories does now sell a more pure form of this hydrolyzable tannin.
