While this is a great fining agent, increasing the dose to 10 pounds per thousand gallons decreases the amount of tannin removed per pound, which is not unusual for tannin-protein reactions. Nonetheless this is a superb fining agent for tannic wines if you use between 2 and 7 pounds per thousand gallons.

This product has outperformed Gelsol in multiple trials of Cabernet Sauvignon. We have used this product at various fining rates. On average, this product removed 45ppm Tannin and 5 ppm Complex Anthocyanin per lb.

This is an excellent fining agent, superior to many; that it removes relatively more tannin per pound than even Gelsol, which is a workhorse fining agent.
