Here on Sonoma Coast winemakers are reporting positive results with Remond barrels and Pinot Noir, the same winemakers are ; using the barrels to make Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the eastern hills of Napa Valley.

These are superior barrels for Sonoma County Bordeaux blends, nonetheless the Tonnellerie O is a close competitor. I enjoy the aroma of these barrels more than the Center of France from Remond.

Remond barrels in general are excellent, but the Bertange ( a section within the Nevers forest ) is a very good for Cabernet Sauvignons which have the potential for sauvage or wild aroma attributes that turn herbal, i.e. Santa Cruz, Sonoma, hillside Napa Valley. Spectaculr result for my winemaking.

We have found that there are aroma differences between forests for this cooperage. The Bertranges barrels are preferred in blind tastings for cool climate and hillside Cabernet Sauvignons, such as Santa Cruz Mountains, Howell Mountain.
